Atrophic Macules

Acne scars are a cause of great concern as they not only affect your attractive personality but also your confidence. So we can safely say that this problem has a significant say in your physical, social and financial aspects of your life. We will discuss Atrophic macules which are a type of acne scars.

Atrophic macules not only emerge on the face but also the other parts of the body. On the face they are very small but are a bit larger on the body. They are softer then other acne scars, with a slightly wrinkled base, and may have a bluish or violet color on white skin due to underlying blood vessels. As time passes these scars become from bluish to ivory white in color. This type of skin scar affects Caucasians as the pattern is also only evident over white-skin.

Acne scars when encountered should be treated by the consultation of a dermatologist. Who in turn can suggest the best treatment for the patient? A good dermatologist would not only offer the best treatment but would be able to help the physicological aspects as well. The most common treatments for these scars are- collagen treatment, laser treatment, dremabrasion, microdermabrasion, skin surgery, skin grafting etc. the cost of these treatments vary as does there effectiveness from people to people.
