Follicular Macular Atrophy

Acne is a common skin disorder. If acne is not treated rightly or negligence is shown in caring the area affected by this problem scars could develop. These scars are known as acne scars. Since acne is a very complex issue and comes under a variety of different types, the scars that accompany acne are also categorized in many different types. We will discuss Follicular macular atrophy.

Follicular macular atrophy occurs on the chest or back of a person who is already suffering from acne otherwise. They are small, white, soft lesions, often barely raised above the surface of the skin and look like whiteheads that haven’t fully develop. This condition is also refereed to as "perifollicular elastolysis." The problem may persist for months to sometimes even years.

There are many different treatments available for acne scars and they vary in cost as well as effectiveness. It is essential to meet a dermatologist before the treatment.
